Welcome to the 2026 Global Health Conference, a gathering designed to spark new ideas and strengthen global connections. From September 27 – October 1, 2026, health professionals, educators, and partners from around the world will come together in Southbury, Connecticut, USA, to explore this year’s theme:


From Partnership to Practice: Shaping the Future of Education in Global Health — learning with, led by, and for our global collaborators.


This year’s program highlights how collaborative relationships can evolve into meaningful, real‑world change. Through interactive sessions, hands‑on workshops, and opportunities to connect with colleagues from diverse global health settings, participants will delve into innovative approaches for teaching, learning, and building sustainable health education models.

The Global Health Innovation Idea Challenge (Logo)

The Global Health Academy at Nuvance Health is excited to introduce the 2026 Global Health Innovation Idea Challenge (GHIIC) and to welcome participation from all of our international partner sites.


The 2026 GHIIC continues our commitment to inspiring bold, creative thinking in global health. This year’s challenge invites students, clinicians, educators, and researchers from across our global partner sites to collaborate on forward‑looking ideas that address real‑world health needs. Participants are encouraged to develop solutions that are innovative, practical, and grounded in partnerships, with the potential to strengthen equity and improve health outcomes in diverse communities.


Through this initiative, we aim to elevate new perspectives, encourage interdisciplinary teamwork, and spark projects that can grow into sustainable, meaningful contributions to global health practice.

Awards and Scholarships

Each year, the Global Health community recognizes individuals who exemplify leadership, creativity, compassion, and meaningful engagement across our global health community. The awards listed below highlight outstanding contributions from both professional and student participants.

John M. Murphy, MD Leadership Award
This award honors a member of the Global Health Program community who demonstrates strong, initiative-driven leadership that advances global health education, clinical care, partnership development, or systems improvement. Recipients show innovation, long-term impact, and a commitment to responsible and sustainable global health practice.

Sister Jane Frances Award
This award recognizes a medical student who has completed a Global Health Elective and has taken meaningful action in response to challenges observed in underserved communities. The student is honored for cultural humility, compassionate leadership, creativity, and the ability to develop and implement thoughtful solutions that create a positive and lasting impact.

Linde Excellence in Mentoring Award

This award recognizes a community physician or a faculty member who has excelled at mentoring global health scholars in achieving their career objectives through moral, social, and intellectual support.

The award honors mentors who actively contribute to the program’s bidirectional approach to global health education,fostering mutual learning and exchange between domestic and international partners. Through mentorship that values shared expertise, reciprocal growth, and collaborative learning, award recipients strengthen global health partnerships while supporting scholars across diverse cultural and institutional contexts.

Majid Sadigh, MD Annual Scholarship Award

This scholarship recognizes women faculty who have shown exceptional dedication to advancing health equity, social justice, and the well-being of underserved and marginalized communities. It celebrates leaders whose achievements reflect a long-standing commitment to the core values of global health. Applications are welcomed from female faculty at our global health partner sites who have demonstrated meaningful impact through service, education, research, or advocacy.

Apply to Host the 2027 Global Health Conference

Beginning in 2027, the Global Health Academy will rotate the Annual Global Health Conference across our international partner sites. We will soon be opening applications for partner institutions interested in hosting the 2027 conference.

The selected site will work closely with the Global Health Academy to co-design the program and welcome 100 to 150 participants for a five-day event that includes keynote sessions, plenaries, breakouts, a poster hall, cultural programming, and the GHIIC Pitchfest.

 

Host applicants should be prepared to support core logistics such as venue coordination, hybrid capability, accommodations, transportation, and local planning. Full eligibility details, responsibilities, and the application timeline are available on the information page.

Southbury, CT is conveniently accessible by air, with major airlines serving the nearby airports: John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

Consider using public transportation or rideshare services to navigate the area.

The Heritage Hotel is the recommended hotel for conference attendees. While we encourage you to consider staying there, we also suggest exploring other local hotels and accommodations for additional options.
