The African Community Center for Social Sustainability (ACCESS) hosts international students from several Universities from across the world. The students and faculty have had wonderful experiences over the years ranging from medical, social and political excursions. The key impact has been on the lives of patients and the projects that have been of public health importance like access to clean water, light, addressing malnutrition in children, maternal and child health care to management of non-communicable disease. In April 2024, Dr Robert Kalyesubula who is the president of ACCESS was awarded the Public Health Hero Award by Touro University California in recognition of the impact ACCESS has had on the local communities of Nakaseke.
