Yale School of Medicine

Global health is founded on the principles of social justice and, for medical students, involves understanding the challenges health systems face in attaining health equity for all, understanding the social, economic and political determinants of health, providing clinical care to underserved patients, advocacy for individual patients and communities, and a commitment to cultural humility and cross-cultural communication.

Participants experience a vibrant global health curriculum that ensures these values are discussed in the core curriculum. They can also access a variety of elective courses that allow them to gain a deeper understanding of these values and work with underserved populations home and abroad.
